On 22 August 2022, the "Nyonya Culture" Art Exhibition, jointly organised by China Tianying and the Malaysian Embassy in China, was grandly opened at CNTY's Beijing office. Sanmugan Subramaniam, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Malaysian Embassy in China, attended the exhibition with diplomats from the Embassy. The opening ceremony was attended by diplomats from Guyana, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Finland, Iran, Mexico, Australia, India, Mozambique and other countries and guests from all walks of life in China.
Liu Chunyang, Director of Foreign Affairs of China Tianying, delivered a welcome speech. He said that China and Malaysia are both good neighbours and good relatives. "The deep connotation of Nyonya culture is a reflection of the long history of friendly relations between the Chinese and Malaysian peoples. China Tianying is honoured to cooperate with the Malaysian Embassy in organising the "Nyonya Culture" Art Exhibition as part of the "Malaysia Truly Asia Festival 2022" events. As an international environmental protection and new energy enterprise, China Tianying adheres to its internationalization strategy and actively engages in green public diplomacy practices, and will continue to work together with global partners to protect the ecological environment.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Chief of Mission Sangmugam elaborated on the origins of Nyonya Culture, noting that "our common past is both a human bond between our two countries and a pathway to peace". Preserving the Nyonya Culture is not only a way to build communities, but also a responsibility for future generations, who have a responsibility to learn and benefit from the cultural heritage of the past.
The art exhibition showcased paintings by Malaysian artist Ms Maisarah Loo, as well as 'Nyonya' costumes, home furnishings and books. The Beijing office also invited a professional Pipa ensemble to play Chinese folk music. The melodious pipa music was paired with the oil paintings reflecting the "Nyonya culture", and once again, the cultures and friendship between the two countries met and complemented each other.
The art exhibition is an important part of the “Malaysia Truly Asia Festival 2022”, which is highly valued by the Malaysian Ambassador to China and the Embassy. The successful opening of the art exhibition demonstrated the long history and heritage of friendship between China and Malaysia, promoted the international business of China Tianying, and further strengthened the friendly relationship between China Tianying and the Malaysian Embassy in Beijing.
