Urbaser has joined the "Manifesto for a sustainable economic recovery" along with more than 240 personalities from the business world, social entities, the media, NGOs, universities, governments and political parties to promote a green and sustainable recovery from the COVID-19 crisis in Spain.
This initiative defends that the stimulus policies derived from the COVID-19 must be effective from the economic and social point of view and, at the same time, be aligned with the sustainability policies. It is based on the European Green Pact which proposes a growth strategy based on three pillars: digitization, decarbonization and resilience.
By joining the manifesto and establishing alliances to support and implement a sustainable stimulus policies, Urbaser supports a recovery towards a more sustainable, prosperous and healthy economy
As Laura Galindo, head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Urbaser indicates: “The COVID-19 situation should not delay the objectives that we had set in our 2018-2023 Corporate Social Responsibility Action Plan. By joining this manifesto, we seek to contribute efficiently to a sustainable economic recovery.”
Additionally, the company has set a target of 5% reduction in its scope 1 and scope 2 emissions by 2022. Likewise, as a member of Forética, Urbaser has continued to collaborate with this association to form part of the business alliance “The future of sustainability: resilience and 'new normal' for post-COVID-19 companies” whose objective is to develop tools and solutions for a sustainable business recovery.
Urbaser’s commitment to circular economy goes beyond optimizing its resource recovery processes. It has joined the Pact for the Circular Economy, promoted by the Spanish Government, and different sectoral associations, where it contributes its experience in waste management to the development of technical studies, technical standardization and provides consultations on legislative proposals both on the European and national level.
